Each lesson is generally between 60 and 120 minutes in length, and students will learn all the necessary requirements for RCM examinations. The NSM curriculum follows the Royal Conservatory of Music’s most recent syllabus. Students will receive quizzes and tests periodically and are expected to prepare and complete weekly homework assignments.
History I and II courses are available from September through June in a group class setting. Each class is generally 2-3 hours in length and covers the basic prerequisites for Royal Conservatory examination sessions. Enrolled students will receive weekly homework and periodic tests to prepare for the examination.
Our Ear Training and Aural Skills program runs September through June, and helps prepare students for Royal Conservatory of Music’s Assessment Program.
Students at NSM receive year round exposure to live concerts, have regular opportunities to participate in guest artist masterclasses, music workshops and school recitals, register in local music competitions and festivals and volunteer for community music outreach events, organized through the Minds On Music Outreach Program.
